BEACH – Sandbox at Seastreak Ferry -We spent one afternoon here hanging with friends, listening to live music, watching happy kids run along the bay while their parents relaxed (because there’s no rough ocean waves) and we just KNEW Highlands was made for people like us. Grab beverages & snacks at the beach shack or from one of the food trucks. 5 min bike ride, 15 min walk.
BIKE–Henry Hudson Trail starts at the end of our street and runs from Highlands to Aberdeen spanning 14 miles along the shore. Whether you walk or bike, there is a ton see and do along the way and it’s relatively accessible for all biking/hiking skill levels. Download the AllTrails app to map out your trip! We offer three bikes and if you need extra for the rest of your crew, Kranky Cycles is also down the street halfway to the trail (ps Kranky will also rent out paddleboards!)
HIKE - Hartshorne Park – hike for 20 minutes or 2 hours in this 700+ acre park with a plethora of hiking trails for all skill levels and mezmerizing views of the rivers and ocean.
PLAY/SHOP: Asbury Park has always been a little funky and a lot of hip, so it’s no surprise that it boosts some of the coolest antique and curiosity shops around, we love Flux Modern, not to mention an awesome boardwalk and the best arcade in the country- Silver Ball Retro Arcade. Plus there's great food (try Taka ) tons of live music venues like the famous, Stone Pony. We always recommend spending time in Asbury.
DAY TRIP: Love NYC but hate driving there? Hop on the Seastreak ferry just one mile down the road and only an hour ride to Manhattan – (Wall Street or East 34th) for a change of pace and a little Yin to the shore’s Yang. Start out at the Tin Building if you get off at 34th for a TON of food options and plan your day from there.
